Bob Collins resigns to focus on Brother's Keeper
January 23, 2010
Bob Collins resigns from Tri-State Men’s Center Board of Directors to focus on his duties as Executive Director of Brother’s Keeper. Mr. Collins felt he needed to leave the duties as member and president of the Board in order to spend full time on the start up of our Brother’s Keeper program.
It was Bob's vision for a ministry to meet the needs of returning Citizens that started the Brother's Keeper program. He has led the board to the point that a location and ministry is close to a reality. The board is excited about the direction of the ministry and look forward to "new blood" to come to the board of directors to continue the vision.
Keep our ministry in your prayers as we near the February meeting with the State board that will authorize final permits so we can complete the shower room construction, fire doors and sprinkler system. We currently still need to find a 30 inch two-hour fire door; know anyone that has one?
We continue to make grant applications for program expenses. We will need to meet ongoing Rent & utility bills, operating costs, food and household items as well as staffing salaries. Until funds become available, many staff (and Directors) will be volunteering their services, we will seek donated items wherever possible.
Along with the reality of Bob Collin’s resignation, is the awareness that Tri-State Men’s Center needs to find new members to fill out the board’s make-up. Mr. Don Tucker, vice-president, has ascended to the position of President due to our vacancy. We hope to increase to eleven persons from our current seven on the Board. Application packets are available on our website -www.tristatemenscenter.org/newsletters - or ask a board member to get you a printed copy.
Our ministry is ready to grow, --- by our executive director concentrating on BK task only and --- by the infusion of new blood into the ministry’s leadership. --- by increased income from grants and contributions.
Come join us and help us grow!
